Florida Discussing Multi-Year Deal For Uggla
The Marlins have begun internal discussions about offering second baseman Dan Uggla a multi-year contract.
Florida dangled Uggla in trades last winter, but they now want to keep him through 2012, when they are expected to open their new ballpark.
"It'd make me a very happy man," Uggla said Monday.
"I think everybody knows I'd like to stay here in South Florida. It has become my second home. I love the people down there."
Without offering names, Marlins baseball operations president Larry Beinfest said the team will consider offering multi-year deals after the season to at least two players.
GM: Ordo?ez 'Won't Click His Option'
Tigers outfielder Magglio Ordonez's future with the team has been clouded by an injury over the weekend.
Ordonez is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks with a broken ankle, meaning he won't reach the number of starts or plate appearances needed to activate a $15-million option for 2011.
"He's not going to click his option," president and general manager Dave Dombrowski said.
"He's done a tremendous job for us -- I mean fantastic. But we have a lot of guys that are free agents at the end of this year, and we'll have to tackle all of them and see how our club fits together for the future."

Giants Sign Dontrelle Willis
The Giants have signed Dontrelle Willis to a Triple-A contract.
Willis will report to Fresno on Monday.
Willis is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Fielder Turned Down $100M From Brewers
Agent Scott Boras sees his client, Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder, as a "rare, rare commodity."
Milwaukee has opened talks with Boras earlier this year on an extension for Fielder, who can be a free agent after the 2011 season.
Word among agents attending the All-Star Game is that the Brewers made an initial offer of five years at just over $100 million.
It is believed that Fielder and Boras turned down the deal as talks broke off and nothing has happened for weeks.
Cliff Lee Will Seek No-Trade Clause
After playing for four teams in 12 months, Cliff Lee will seek a no-trade clause in his next contract.
"I'm going to do everything I can to get that in there," Lee says. "You want to be in control of your future. And the way I've moved around, that's important to me.
"It's nice going to a good team and being in a position to be in the postseason. But if you had a choice, you'd rather be with one team and win with one team. It's been kind of chaotic."
Cleveland dealt Lee to Philadelphia on July 29, 2009. He was then traded to Seattle this past winter. The Mariners dealt him to Texas last week.
Ortiz Wants A Long-Term Extension
Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz doesn't want a one-year deal, he's looking for a long-term extension.
"I'm going to tell you, I ain't going nowhere," Ortiz said.
"I don't want one year. Why should I return for one year and go through the same [stuff] I'm going through now, just because it's my last year? No. I like to be left alone when I'm playing baseball. I know how to clean my [stuff] up."
Boston holds a $12.5 million contract on the 2011 season for Ortiz, and there is no buyout.
